So as far as I can tell, wind was a contributing factor for our station downtime on 2/20. I am still recovering from a cold, so, I was not as quick to respond to the downtime or when it happened, but some of the servers started popping back on around after noon hours except for our station. Backup from laptop picked up at around 17:45 EST.
So that is one computer down.
This morning at 7:00 EST my other computer that kind of runs most of the complex stuff that 2 computers normally do for broadcast 2 (Or AnimeAMAZE Live) had a power supply failure (Power supply kept power cycling the computer) So without much I could do since I had to go to work, I decided to leave it alone, purchased a new PSU, and things for the most part worked.
As far as I can tell right now, either an entire set of memory is dead, or a set of slots on the motherboard are dead. hard to figure out which is the problem right now, but my guess is half the motherboard is working as it should, which really means it’s not going to be stable. I have 4 DDR3 RAM modules (DDR3 1600) totaling 32GB of RAM. All 4 are installed but the motherboard acknowledges that all 4 are plugged in, it refuses to see more than 16GB though. So I am going through testing memory one by one until I can factor out the bad ones, and put to play the good ones. Hopefully Crucial has a good warranty. Each stick, each slot…it’s gonna be a fun Saturday evening!
Sadly I can not run a reliable backup like this, so I am going to figure out my other options, which may involve the laptop even more, or may just involve me setting up another computer, and hopefully have a working request page up for when things are down longer than a few hours.
So we have 2 computers down. Though the later I don’t think was wind. Just inconvenient timing.
I’ll keep you all posted!
